About Our Company
The San Luis Valley Historical Society strives to work with the communities of the San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado. Our goals are to help highlight, preserve, and advocate for the heritage and history of the San Luis Valley. Not only are we interested in the history of the valley but a wider perspective of how the valley influenced a wider area or how the valley was influenced by the nation and/or world.
The Society first started in 1961. The Society first incorporated in the State of Colorado in 1968. The Society dissolved in 1999 for four years and became re-incorporated in 2003 in its current form. The Society maintains records all the way back to 1961. Anyone interested in doing research on the Society should contact the Board to get access to the materials.
